International Womens Day 2019: Nicola

Final woman of the day is Nicola Fraser, who works alongside Kenny Robertson to ensure the overall running of the company. In her own words:

"I am really proud to be part of such a great team. Everyone works together really well and it makes coming to work a pleasure. I am learning from my colleagues every day and together, we have formed a great company in our industry. As much as I enjoy the business challenges that present, I love getting into the yard or out onto sites to see whats going on, and catch up with the lads to hear about the projects and see what they're getting up to."

Apprenticeship Week 2019: Khai

Apprenticeship Week 2019: Introducing our newest and youngest apprentice Khai Cameron. Khai joined our cladding team last summer and has been working full time with us ever since. Learning on the job every day from his experienced coworkers, Khai will start his formal apprenticeship training this year. Meantime, he is accessing opportunities for other training to ensure his skills are building and developing all the time.

Khai enjoys learning in this practical way because it’s “on the job training, always doing something and always busy”. He has a positive attitude to work and has fitted right into our team here. We look forward to supporting Khai through his cladding apprenticeship and developing this skill set to ensure a bright future.

Apprenticeship Week 2019: Ryan

Apprenticeship Week 2019: Ryan

Celebrating National Apprentice Week this week in the KR Team. For those of you who don’t already know him, this is Ryan George our 3rd year apprentice in Welding Engineering. Ryan has been with us since leaving school at 16 and is flying through his training, showing aptitude on site and in the workshop; alongside a developing interest in the estimating and design side of the business. We are positive that Ryan will have many career paths ahead of him after his training concludes and look forward to helping him realise his potential.

In his words, this is what Ryan thinks of being an apprentice:

”The company has spent a lot of time with me to get me through my apprenticeship and guided me on the correct path, which has made it an enjoyable experience during my three years at the company.

I enjoy the varity of work that the company offers, which can be challenging at times.

Every day is still a school day, learning something new on site from fellow work mates day in, day out.

The team are easy to get on with... despite having Aberdeen FC fans based in the company!” (Cheeky)

Apprenticeship Week: Daryl

It's Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2019: Skills for the Future: Daryl Scott

Daryl is our apprentice welding engineer and is in his final year of training. With great attention to detail, Daryl is often found in the workshop fabricating steel for various projects, but he spends a lot of time on sites too:

"The great thing about working for KR Steel is the variation. I have learned so much about the whole construction process from design and fabrication through to steel erecting and cladding on site. I really enjoy my job and working here is never boring. I'm looking forward to getting my Modern Apprenticeship finished this year."

The team particularly value Daryl's positive attitude to work. He is always early, is very reliable and has a great work ethic. We look forward to continuing to invest in Daryl's skill growth and development after his apprenticeship completes.
